Kesha has said that Rainbow was inspired by her “true” musical influences: Iggy Pop, T. Rex, Dolly Parton, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Beach Boys, James Brown, and Sweet.
The album contains a combination of both mournful cuts and upbeat dance tracks such as “Woman” and “Bastards”.
Talking on what inspired Kesha, a few activities and scenarios helped the singer to make up her songs, for instance; “Woman” was inspired by the comment of the current president of the United States when he was campaigning for the position, Kesha replied to the “p*ssy grabbing comment” by saying “I’m a motherfucking woman!” This line is included throughout the song.

Also, Kesha’s inspiration to write “Learn to Let Go” was by her friend who went through a rough childhood and also the troubles and problems she had in the quest of writing the magical project.
